Design in the Islands: A Comparative Look at Two Oahu Communities

Waipio Gentry and Koa Ridge are master-planned communities in Central Oahu, but they have distinct characteristics that set them apart. Waipio Gentry is an established community that was built in 1979 on 510 acres, while Koa Ridge is a new development by Castle & Cooke on approximately 579 acres.

Waipio Gentry also has business parks, car dealerships, a medical clinic, and a Costco Warehouse, making it a convenient location for residents who want everything in one place.

Patsy T. Mink (D-HI) was a trailblazer in American politics. She was the first woman of color and Asian American to be elected to the U.S. Congress.
